The Canadian hog and pig farming industry includes about 7,000 farms with combined annual revenue of $3 billion. Large companies include F Ménard, Big Sky Farms, and Les Placements Roland Robitaille and may be vertically integrated with operations in hog breeding and genetics, feed milling, pork processing, transportation and warehousing, and hog waste management. The industry is in a state of contraction, due to government programs aimed at reducing hog and pig overproduction.
