About 8,000 hotels and motels operate in Canada with combined annual revenue of about $18 billion. Large companies include Allied Hotel Properties, Executive Inn Group, and Sunrise International. About 20 percent of Canadian hotel and motel properties are part of branded chains, and account for about half of the over 400,000 available rooms in Canada.
