More than 65,000 physicians practice in Canada, generating over $14 billion in payments for clinical services. Canada’s physician population includes 34,000 family physicians; over 23,000 clinical and laboratory specialists; and over 8,000 surgical specialists, according to the 2007 National Physician Survey.
