Industry Profile Excerpt

The US armored vehicle manufacturing industry includes about 10 companies with combined annual revenue of $10 billion, although revenues can fluctuate markedly depending on the level of global conflict. Major companies include BAE Systems, Textron, General Dynamics, Oshkosh Corporation, Force Protection, and AM General.

Small companies can compete by providing niche products to prime contractors, and by forming joint ventures with larger contractors. The industry is capital-intensive: average annual revenue per employee is about $350,000.
