North Dakota economy remains virtually untouched by national economic downturn; transportation and warehouse sectors show growth in Q1 2009, while retail trade sector slides; unemployment is among lowest in the nation.

• State job growth rose 1.3% in July 2009 from a year ago; national job growth fell 4.2%.
• State unemployment averaged 4.2% in July 2009; the national average was 9.4%
• Personal income rose 0.3% to $24.6 billion in Q1 2009 from a year ago.
• Tax revenue fell 12.1% in Q1 2009 from the previous year.
• Exports fell 38.6% to $604 million in the first five months of 2009 from a year ago.
